Flashcard Maker is a free AI-powered study tool that helps you create flashcards from any text, document, or webpage. Simply paste your content, and our AI will automatically generate question-answer pairs optimized for learning.
How do I create my first deck?
Creating your first deck is easy! Just paste any text into the input box on the homepage, click "Generate Flashcards", and our AI will create a deck of flashcards for you. You can also manually create cards or import content from URLs.
Is Flashcard Maker free to use?
Yes! Flashcard Maker offers a generous free tier. Unauthenticated users can create up to 20 decks total (2 per day) with 10 cards per deck. Sign up for a free account to get unlimited total decks with 5 decks per day. Pro users get unlimited everything.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is required to start using Flashcard Maker. Your decks are saved locally in your browser. However, creating a free account enables cloud sync across devices and removes the total deck limit.
AI Features
How does the AI flashcard generation work?
Our AI analyzes your input text and extracts key concepts, facts, and relationships. It then creates question-answer pairs that test your understanding of the material. The AI is trained to create effective study materials that follow best practices in learning science.
What types of content can I convert to flashcards?
You can convert almost any text content: lecture notes, textbook chapters, articles, documentation, vocabulary lists, and more. Pro users can also import content directly from URLs, making it easy to create flashcards from web pages.
How accurate is the AI-generated content?
Our AI is highly accurate for factual content. However, we recommend reviewing generated flashcards and editing any that need refinement. You have full control to edit, add, or remove cards as needed.
Can I edit AI-generated flashcards?
Absolutely! You can edit any flashcard after generation. Click on a card to modify the question or answer. You can also add new cards manually or delete cards you don't need.

What is spaced repetition?
Spaced repetition is a scientifically-proven learning technique that shows you flashcards at optimal intervals. Cards you know well appear less frequently, while cards you struggle with appear more often. This maximizes retention while minimizing study time.
How does the smart answer checking work?
When you study in quiz mode, our AI evaluates your answers semantically, not just by exact match. This means you can express answers in your own words and still get credit. The AI provides a score (0-100) and helpful feedback.
What quiz modes are available?
Flashcard Maker offers standard flashcard mode (flip to reveal answer) and quiz mode with AI answer checking. Pro users also get multiple choice mode with AI-generated distractors and an AI chat assistant for deeper learning.
Can I study offline?
Your flashcards are stored locally in your browser, so you can study even without an internet connection. However, AI features (generation, answer checking) require an internet connection.

What's included in the free tier?
Free users get AI-powered flashcard generation, basic quiz mode, spaced repetition, and cloud sync (when signed in). The main limits are deck creation (2-5 per day depending on sign-in status) and cards per deck (10).
What do I get with Pro?
Pro unlocks unlimited decks and cards (100 per deck), URL import from any website, AI chat assistant for interactive learning, multiple choice quiz mode, and priority support. Pro is $9.99/month or $7.99/month billed annually.
How do I upgrade to Pro?
Visit the Pricing page and click "Upgrade to Pro". You'll be redirected to our secure checkout powered by Stripe. After payment, Pro features are unlocked immediately.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, you can cancel your Pro subscription at any time. You'll retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period. Your flashcard data is always yours and never deleted.
Privacy & Data
Is my data secure?
Yes, we take data security seriously. Your flashcard content is stored securely in the cloud when you're signed in, or locally in your browser when you're not. We never share your content with third parties.
Can I export my flashcards?
Currently, your flashcards are stored locally in your browser (and in the cloud if signed in). We're working on export features for common formats. In the meantime, you can access your data through your browser's developer tools.
How do I delete my account?
To delete your account and all associated data, please contact us at support. We'll process your request within 30 days as required by privacy regulations.
Do you use my flashcards to train AI?
No, we do not use your flashcard content to train AI models. Your content is only used to provide you with the flashcard generation and study features.
