- 299 Fry words in three hundreds, in frequency order.
- Big, clear print — 8 cards per page, cut along the dashed lines. US Letter or A4.
- Tap 🔊 to hear any word, shuffle the deck, or add your own words with “Your own list”.
How to teach sight words with flashcards
- Start small. Take 5 words from the first list. Say each one, use it in a sentence, have the child say it back.
- Mix old and new. Each session, show the new words alongside ones the child already reads. Familiar wins keep it fun.
- Sort into piles. “Know it” and “not yet”. Practice the “not yet” pile more often — that is the same idea behind spaced repetition.
- Keep it short. Five minutes a day beats one long session a week.
- Move on by mastery, not by grade. When a child reads a list quickly without help, start the next one.
Want the review schedule handled for you? Tap Practice online with spaced repetition and the set becomes a free deck that brings back the tricky words first. You can also make cards for any topic with the AI flashcard maker.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Dolch and Fry sight words?
Dolch is a list of 220 "service words" (plus 95 nouns) grouped by level from Pre-Primer to 3rd grade. Fry is a longer list ordered by how often words appear in reading, usually taught in hundreds. They overlap heavily — about 3 in 4 Dolch words are also in Fry 1–300 — so pick the list your school uses, or Dolch for Pre-K–1 and Fry after that.
How many sight words should a kindergartener know?
Most kindergarten programs aim for the Dolch Pre-Primer and Primer lists — about 90 words — by the end of the year. Many schools set a smaller goal of 25–50. Go at the child’s pace: a handful of new words a week, with lots of review of the old ones.
How do I print the flashcards double-sided?
Sight word cards are one-sided — the word is the whole card — so print normally. For cards with answers (like multiplication), choose “Double-sided”: answers print on every second page, mirrored so they line up when your printer flips on the long edge.
Can I hear how a word is pronounced?
Yes. Tap the speaker button under the card and your browser reads the word aloud. It uses the voice built into your device, so it works offline once the page has loaded.
Can I practice the words online instead of printing?
Yes. Flip through the cards right on this page, or tap “Practice online” to save the set as a free deck. Learn mode then repeats the words a child misses more often than the ones they already know.
Are these flashcards free?
Yes — every list, every page, no signup and no watermark. Print as many copies as you need for home or the classroom.
