How to use the template

  1. Choose a layout — Blank, Lined, or Foldable.
  2. Click Print / Save as PDF. Only the card grid prints — the controls and text are hidden automatically.
  3. Write a term or question on each card. With the foldable layout, write the question on the top half and the answer below the fold line, then cut and fold.
  4. Cut along the card edges and start studying. Shuffle daily and move cards you know to a “done” pile.

Why handwritten flashcards work

Writing cards by hand is itself a form of active learning — the act of condensing material into a question and answer forces you to decide what actually matters. Studying them with active recall (testing yourself instead of re-reading) and spacing your reviews over days are two of the most evidence-backed study techniques there are.

The trade-off is time: making cards by hand is slow, especially for a dense chapter or a long vocabulary list. If you want the same active-recall benefit without the busywork, you can turn a PDF, your notes, or any topic into a ready-made deck with AI, and study it online with spaced repetition built in.

Yes — completely free. You can print the template or save it as a PDF as many times as you like, with no signup or watermark.

How do I save the template as a PDF?

Click "Print / Save as PDF", then in the print dialog choose "Save as PDF" as the destination/printer instead of a physical printer. You will get a clean, reusable PDF file.
