Example: what the AI writes for an Anki deck
Four cards from a pasted paragraph on the cardiac cycle. Answers stay short, one fact per card, the way Anki works best.
Front
What closes at the start of ventricular systole?
Back
The atrioventricular (mitral and tricuspid) valves; their closing is the first heart sound, S1.
Front
What is isovolumetric contraction?
Back
The phase when the ventricles contract with all valves closed, so pressure rises but volume does not change.
Front
What causes the second heart sound (S2)?
Back
Closure of the aortic and pulmonary valves at the end of systole.
Front
Roughly what share of ventricular filling comes from atrial contraction at rest?
Back
About 20%; most filling is passive.
Ways to make Anki cards, compared
Anki itself is free and excellent at scheduling reviews; the slow part is writing cards. Here is how the common routes compare. Checked November 2026.

Tips for good AI-made Anki cards
- Feed it your own material. Cards from your lecture notes or the assigned chapter match your exam better than cards from a topic alone.
- One fact per card. Delete or split any card whose answer is a paragraph before exporting; long answers are the main reason Anki reviews feel slow.
- Import into a subdeck. Keep each export in its own subdeck so you can suspend or delete a batch without touching the rest.
- Already have Quizlet sets? Use Quizlet to Anki instead of regenerating them.
Anki flashcard maker FAQ
How do I make Anki cards with AI?
+
Paste your notes, upload a PDF or type a topic in the box at the top of this page and click generate. Review the cards, then on the deck page choose Export to Anki. You get an .apkg file; in Anki choose File > Import and pick it. The deck appears with every card ready to study.
Can I turn a PDF into Anki cards?
+
Yes. Upload the PDF (or a Word file) with a free account and the AI writes question-and-answer cards from that document only. Your first document import is free, up to 15 cards. Pick a chapter if the file is long. Then export the deck as .apkg.
Is it free?
+
Making cards is free: 1 deck a day without an account, 3 decks with a free account. Your first export to Anki (.apkg, CSV or TSV) is free. After that, exports are part of Pro ($9.99/month), which also allows decks of up to 100 cards. Studying here is never limited.
Do I need an Anki add-on or to map CSV fields?
+
No. The .apkg file already contains the deck, the note type and the cards, so Anki imports it in one step on desktop, AnkiWeb, AnkiDroid and AnkiMobile. If you prefer a text file, a CSV/TSV export is also available.
Will importing a second deck mess up my note types?
+
No. Every export uses the same fixed note type, “FlashcardMaker Basic”, so importing several decks adds notes to that one note type instead of creating a new “Basic-xxxxx” copy each time.
Can I edit the cards before exporting?
+
Yes. Open the deck to fix wording, delete cards or add your own before you export. You can also study it here first with spaced repetition and only send the final version to Anki.
Does it make cloze deletion cards?
+
Exports are front/back (Basic) cards. If you want fill-in-the-blank practice, the fill in the blank generator writes cloze-style questions, and you can turn a deck into a quiz here.
